Cyclists are not allowed in the bus lane

Or at least that is what this polish motorcyclist thinks. Not only should i not be in the bus lane, but i should be on the left hand side and not in the middle. He had no issues getting past, and if he would have, i would have moved over to let him pass. This was filmed on friday the 18th, the camera is at a dodgy angle as i put the cameras in the wrong place :)

Carnival of cyclists (’s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands)

In the city of ’s-Hertogenbosch Carnival is taken seriously. Young and old take part in the celebrations. What better than to reach those by bicycle? This results in a Carnival of Cyclists. ’s-Hertogenbosch (aka Den Bosch) takes up yet a third name every year during the days of Carnival. The city is then known as “Oeteldonk”.

Off-Season Cycling Presentations

Episode 6: Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean there aren’t cycling events to cover. :) This past Monday, there was a presentation on the Grand Lake Road Multi-Use trail held at Cape Breton University. The following day was a presentation on cycling in winter. Both events had been mentioned at the Velo Cape Breton Potluck (Episode 4) so I did some follow-up. :)

Cyclists in Amsterdam (1900-1930)

A variety of old images with cyclists in Amsterdam from circa 1900 to circa 1930. Times when a cyclist had to share the roads with street cars and horse drawn carriages rather than with cars. Interesting to see relatively more trucks than privately owned cars in the streets of Amsterdam in the first 30 years of the 20th century. Traffic was very different. There is also no separate protected bicycle infrastructure to be seen yet. (Which was already normal outside the cities in those days in the Netherlands, but not in the cities.) These images with people on bicycles are short excerpts from a high number of other YouTube videos.
