Around 6pm, we got a night ride. We found the road, G325 National Highway, which was damaged, as if after war. You may see many small rocks and dirt, off-road ride, which made us struggle to ride. I truly felt China is a developing country. Originally, I prefer using road bike tire. Luckily, we didn’t use. Otherwise, we may replace hundreds of tube! Half an hour later, Joe Chan got hurt after downhill. He cried! Two hours later, we found a deputy, like a small city. Because of the poor road, we asked for help in a police station. We chatted with the officers. After few minutes, the deputy head asked who we were. We explained our plan to him. He invited us to have a great dinner with them.
And they guided us to our next destination,–Hepu. Since we could not ride for next 40KM, they requested the local armed force police, Wu-Jiang Unit to carry our bikes. We took the deputy head’s car. The head apologized to us because of the poor road. He eventually found the best hotel in Hepu for us.
We feel the great efficiency and hospitality in China. Many people, including me, blamed China because there are too much fake stuff, fake eggs, and many cheats. But, maybe, I changed my mind. Imagine that can we get this help in Hong Kong? I think the HK police won’t help us because of the bureaucracy. Everyone seems to depersonalize in Hong Kong.
We got a morning ride and rode for almost 200km.
Lunchtime, we had it at a small farm village. We invited local resident to take pictures.
They were very happy. It seems that they haven’t tried to use the digital camera. We overall spent RMB 30 for the meal. We ate pork and chicken rice, and drank 1.25L coke.
After lunch, we started to ride. In couples of minute, we reached Guangxi. We saw less urban style village and people, but more rural feel. We saw more natural plants and some animals. After rode for 13KM, we couldn’t breathe with fresh air. We only breathe with toxic air because there is a big sugar factory. This factory claimed sugar production. We wondered what sugar they were producing, because it actually emitted black toxic smoke.
